Rajpura. Tension has spread over the construction of a mosque in Punjab’s Rajpura. The case is of Gujjara locality. Earlier there used to be Guru’s inn. In which Hindus and Sikhs used to come. It is being told that some people started making the Guru’s Sarai a mosque. This was strongly opposed by Sikhs and Hindus. People reached the Tehsil premises. In view of the situation, a large number of forces had to be deployed on the spot. The matter was also heard in the local SDM court on Monday. During this time, apart from the people of the Muslim side who were building the mosque, Sikhs and Hindus were also in large numbers.
According to Sikhs and Hindus, Guru ki Sarai is a Gurdwara. People of both the societies used to serve here. Sikhs and Hindus have alleged that after some time an attempt was made to build a mosque here without asking anyone. Sikhs and Hindus have already expressed their opposition on this issue. People say that every day Muslims gather at the Guru’s inn at the time of Namaz. Ringing of loudspeaker causes trouble to common people. At the time of hearing in the SDM court, there were also many religious leaders, people of the cow protection team. After the hearing, SDM Himanshu Gupta said that force has been deployed to keep the atmosphere right.
Even before this, there has been controversy over the construction of a mosque in Punjab. There was a dispute over the construction of three mosques in Faridkot, 50 km from the Pakistan border. There was an allegation of sending funds for their construction from Jammu and Kashmir. In Faridkot itself, RCFAI of Kerala had built three more mosques in the year 2019. There was an outcry about this too. Now there is also fierce opposition to the attempt to convert the Guru’s Sarai into a mosque in Rajpura. However, the SDM has not told in whose favor the place is visible. The builders of the mosque claim that they also have documentary evidence of it being a Gurdwara.
