There is news of coronavirus explosion again in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Today 31 new patients of 31 COVID-19 have been found in the institute. Tamil Nadu Health Department has given this information on Tuesday. Including the new figures, the total number of patients has reached 111. Students are being advised to monitor their health.
On Monday, Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan visited IIT Madras. Chennai Medical Officer Dr Albi was also present with him. Both the officers met the students of the institute and advised for social distancing.
Concerns continue in the Tamil Nadu government regarding the fourth wave of COVID-19 infection. Recently, the Chief Minister of the state MK Stalin had a virtual meeting. He had instructed the District Collector to ensure compliance of COVID rules. Stalin had said, ‘The government system should be ready for any situation.’
IIT Madras released the release this week. The institute had said that it is ready for any eventuality. Also, on the advice of the state government, doctors are also on high alert. The institute had said, ‘We are implementing the COVID-19 rules with student volunteers. Apart from this, all the students have been fully immunized. IIT Madras has weathered three waves effectively and we believe that the lessons learned will help us in handling the case.
