There has been an increase in the number of crimes by 13 percent in the year 2021 as compared to 2020. Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said on Thursday that due to the Corona epidemic, fewer cases were registered in 2020. Due to which fewer cases were reported. More cases have been registered in 2021, due to which the number of crime has increased.
As per the data, 2,66,070 cases were registered in 2020. At the same time, 3,06,389 cases were reported in 2021. At the same time, 5,740 heinous crime cases were registered in 2021 as compared to 5,413 last year. Police said that around 70 per cent of crimes in 2021 were of dacoity and theft.
In 2020, 7,965 cases of snatching were reported and in 2021, 9,383 cases were registered, which was an increase of 15 percent. There has also been an increase of 13 per cent in the number of arrests. Police said there was a 9 per cent increase in crime against senior citizens in 2021. A total of 41,113 such cases were registered in 2021.
At the same time, the Delhi Police Commissioner said that next year in 2023, the G20 summit will be held in the country. There will also be other important international events. Keeping all these in mind, the Protective Security Division has been given a lot of importance, it has been restructured.
