New Delhi: Deandra Dottin of West Indies, who has been selected for Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League, has once again created a sensation with her statement. A few days before the start of the league, Deandra Dottin was told by the Gujarat team that she would not be able to play this season, citing her fitness. During that time Diandra was in a lot of headlines. And once again Diandra is in the news. Expressing disappointment over being left out of the Women’s Premier League, Diandra said that the reason given by Gujarat Giants for this is surprising. The 31-year-old West Indies all-rounder Dottin was bought by the Adani Group team for Rs 60 lakh but was pulled out of the tournament due to medical reasons before the start of the tournament.
The Giants said Dottin could not obtain a medical clearance by the deadline, so he was replaced by Australia’s Kim Garth. Dottin, however, took to Twitter to say, “I would like to make a brief statement on the speculation surrounding my exclusion from the First Lady Premier League.” I am very disappointed by this. The reason given for my exclusion is surprising. He said, ‘Adani Group’s Gujarat Giants team bought me in the auction of the league. Before the start of the tournament, the franchise claimed that I was ruled out due to medical reasons. After this, it was said that I could not take medical clearance, whereas I got it on February 20 itself.
Dottin, who played 143 ODIs and 127 T20Is for the West Indies, said she was surprised by the team management’s decision. She said, ‘I want to clarify that I had mild pain in my stomach and it was swollen. I got the treatment done in December 2022. After this it was shown to the experts in December and January. I was asked to rest till February 13 and from February 14 I got permission to do fitness activities and play.
Dotin said, ‘I started practicing. I honestly shared all the information with the Gujarat Giants physio but it was twisted and told to the team management that I had a stomach ache after the practice session which was not the case. Later the team asked me to get tested in Canada. I also gave the approval received from my doctor Ian Lewis on February 20 to the team.
