New Delhi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday accused the central government of hiding the true figure of people who lost their lives due to corona infection. He also claimed that 40 lakh people have died due to corona infection in the country. Rahul Gandhi tweeted and said, “Neither Modi ji speaks the truth nor does he allow anyone to speak the truth. They are lying that no patient has died due to lack of oxygen. I had already said that not five lakh people but 40 lakh Indian citizens have died due to corona. He said that the Prime Minister should give a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to Corona. Rahul Gandhi is actually making this claim in the context of an unpublished report of the World Health Organization (WHO), which allegedly accused India of not making public the correct figures of deaths due to corona. The New York Times report released on Saturday accused the Indian government of citing unpublished data from WHO.
Modi ji neither speaks the truth nor lets him speak.
They still lie that no one died due to oxygen shortage!
I had said earlier also – due to the negligence of the government in COVID, not 5 lakh, but 40 lakh Indians died.
Farz playye, Modi ji – Give compensation of ₹ 4 lakh to every victim’s family. pic.twitter.com/ZYKiSK2XMJ

According to the New York Times report, WHO will release the figure of people who lost their lives worldwide due to corona infection this month. In this new data of WHO, not only people who lost their lives due to corona infection but also cases of death of patients suffering from other diseases due to lack of treatment due to infection. Allegedly in this report of WHO, the number of people who lost their lives due to corona infection has increased to 1.5 crore from the earlier 60 lakhs. The WHO says that one third of the new 9 million death cases are from India. The WHO has put the number of deaths due to corona in India at 40 lakh, while the government is saying 5,20,000. Apart from India, WHO has also accused Indonesia and Egypt of hiding the figures.
The central government has expressed its strong objection to this report of WHO. He says that the WHO’s method of collecting data is wrong. The Health Ministry said that how can the model which fits for a country with a low population, fit on a vast land like India and a country with a population of 1.3 billion. The Health Ministry said that it has always been in touch with the WHO on this issue and has written six official letters to it.
