New Delhi. BJP Parliamentary Party meeting is going to be held in Delhi today under the chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi. The name for the post of Vice President will be decided in this meeting. The Vice Presidential election is to be held on 6 August. The last date for nomination for this is July 19. That is, only 3 days are left for enrollment. For a long time, many names are in discussion about who will be the NDA candidate for this post. The name of Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had cropped up earlier. Khan denied in the past that he was in the race. Another name in the discussion is that of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. Mukhtar has recently stepped down from the Ministry of Minority Affairs of the Modi government after the membership of the Rajya Sabha was over.
The discussion on the name of Mukhtar is also happening more because he is from the Muslim community. Also, BJP did not send him to Rajya Sabha again. According to sources, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is very ahead in the race, but the last responsibility is on PM Modi. Modi has been surprising with his decisions. By declaring Draupadi Murmu as the Presidential candidate, she has created a snake-like situation for the opposition as well. Still, it is clear that if not Muslim, then OBC candidate can be made NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate. Presently Venkaiah Naidu is the Vice President.
At the same time, the opposition will choose its candidate for this post tomorrow i.e. on Sunday. This information was given by the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge. Kharge said a meeting of opposition leaders would be held in this regard. He also asked to hold talks with all the parties in this matter. Kharge said that after talking to all the parties, we can tell what kind of Vice Presidential candidate the opposition wants. With this statement of Kharge, it seems that seeing his own condition in the presidential election, he may be ready for a common candidate in the vice-presidential election.
