New Delhi. The Supreme Court will hear today whether the drive to remove illegal encroachments continues in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. The Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) had launched a drive to remove illegal occupation here yesterday. Against which advocates Dushyant Dave and Kapil Sibal had complained in the bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana. Ramana had ordered to maintain the status quo while stopping the action on it. Along with hearing in this matter today, the court will also hear a similar application filed by Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. In its application, Jamiat has applied against the demolition of the houses of the accused by bulldozers in UP and Madhya Pradesh.
According to the Supreme Court registry, Justice L. A two-judge bench of Nageswara Rao and Justice BR Gavai will hear the application filed on the anti-encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri and the application of Jamiat together. Let us tell you that late on Tuesday night, that letter of MCD came out, in which it had demanded 400 soldiers from Delhi Police. So that apart from illegal possession of the accused who committed violence in Jahangirpuri, other occupations can also be removed. After this, the action of MCD started from 9 am on Thursday, making Jahangirpuri like a cantonment.
In Jahangirpuri, on April 16, in front of Jama Masjid near C Block, rioters did not attack the procession going out on Hanuman Jayanti. So far, 26 people have been arrested by Delhi Police in this case. Action has been taken on 5 people including the main accused Ansar and the firing person Sonu Chikna and his brother Salim, under the National Security Act (NSA). Union Home Minister Amit Shah had instructed the Delhi Police that such strict action should be taken in the case of riots, so that in future someone would have to think of rioting.
