Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has said, Juvenile Justice Act, 2021 is not in the interest of daughters. He has written a letter to Union Minister Smriti Irani demanding amendment in the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2021.
Chaturvedi said, on the one hand, the central government talks about Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. Whereas on the other hand it also brings amendments in the Juvenile Justice Bill. He said that no FIR is registered under this Act in serious offenses against children without the special permission of the Judicial Magistrate.
In a letter sent to Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday, she has demanded reforms in this act. The letter reads that the amendment made to the Juvenile Justice Act 2021 classifies serious offenses against children as non-cognizable offences. It protects criminals who exploit children for begging, labor and drug trafficking.
