new Delhi . The issue of availing the services of election strategist Prashant Kishor (PK) in the Gujarat Assembly elections due later this year was discussed in a meeting of state party leaders with senior party leader Rahul Gandhi. Party sources gave this information on Thursday. However, no decision was taken and in the meeting held two days back, the leaders discussed the organizational issues of the party.
Back-channel talks are said to be underway again after initial talks failed, but Congress refused. However, the party has unconditionally taken a close aide of Kishor to work for the party, as Congress leaders barred the political advisor’s involvement, as he wanted a major role in ticket distribution.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has already hired Kishor to chalk out a strategy for the next elections.
PK recently met Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and is understood to have discussed plans for the 2023 assembly elections and Rao’s proposed front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He is believed to have given the results of preliminary surveys allegedly conducted by his team in other states for the TRS chief to consider exploring a national alternative.
