Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi, Chief Clinical Nutritionist at Apollo Hospital, Bengaluru, told News 18 that there are many reasons for not drinking fruit juice in the morning. Firstly, the process of digestion occurs rapidly in our stomach throughout the night. During this process many types of acids are produced in the stomach. Therefore, when you wake up in the morning, your stomach is first filled with liquid gas. There is already about 100 to 150 grams of this liquid. In such a situation, when you drink fruit juice, it will further increase the amount of liquid gases. Actually, pulp is removed from fruit juice due to which fiber and many micronutrients are also removed from it. In this way it will increase the sugar in the blood rapidly. This can be a cause of great trouble for diabetes patients. Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi told that juice contains a lot of calories. There are about 117 calories in one cup of juice. Therefore, it will not only increase sugar, but it is also not good for those who want to lose weight.
Harm to gastric patients
People who are gastric patients should also not drink fruit juice on an empty stomach in the morning. Since there is no fiber left due to pulp being removed from fruit juice. Due to lack of fiber the amount of acid in the stomach will increase. For those who are gastric patients, this will increase the acid which will cause stomach ulcers. Due to the release of fiber, the digestive system in the stomach will start becoming weak. This will cause more gas and the stomach will start bloating.

Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi told that some people drink mixed fruit juice of green leafy vegetables, beetroot, spinach, orange etc. after morning walk. This is a deadly combination because on one hand the fruit contains a lot of Vitamin C and on the other hand things like spinach contain oxalic acid. Vitamin C absorbs oxalate rapidly. When the amount of oxalate in the stomach increases, it will start accumulating in the kidneys in the form of small crystals. People with liver disease are at greater risk.
Also harmful for teeth
Fruit juice is acidic in nature, hence when we drink juice in the morning, it damages the outer layer of enamel of the teeth. Apart from this, the risk of cavities increases.

Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi says that it is better to eat fresh fruits in the morning instead of drinking juice on an empty stomach. Fruits contain high amount of fiber due to which it reduces the effect of sugar. He said that in summer, consumption of coconut water, watermelon, cucumber, lemon water etc. will be more beneficial instead of juice. At the same time, no one should consume tomatoes on an empty stomach in the morning. However, it is best to drink lukewarm water mixed with lemon or honey as soon as you wake up in the morning.
