new Delhi. Delhi Police on Thursday said they have arrested eight people in a case of vandalism outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. A senior police officer confirmed that several teams are conducting raids to nab more people involved in the case.
“With the help of the CCTV footage, we identified the people behind the incident. We formed several teams and arrested the accused from different places,” the officer said.
Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unknown people in this case on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, around 70 people were detained for creating ruckus outside Kejriwal’s residence during a protest led by BJP’s Yuva Morcha over the Chief Minister’s recent remarks in the Assembly on ‘The Kashmir Files’.
Tejender Singh Bagga and Yuva Morcha National President Tejashwi Surya protested from IP College to Chief Minister’s residence at 10.30 am.
The protesters reached the residence around 11.30 am and started raising slogans against Kejriwal and his party. The mob turned violent around 1 pm when some protesters broke two barricades put up near the CM House and created a ruckus.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sagar Singh Kalsi had told -AnyTV News that the protesters who broke the barricades had a small box of paint from which they threw paint outside the door. Kejriwal was not present inside the house at the time of the incident.
Delhi Police had put up barricades as a precaution and used water cannons to prevent the protesters from moving forward.
Police said that they are still processing the matter.
