The troubles of Congress leader Randeep Surjewala, who made controversial remarks on Mathura MP and actress Hema Malini, are not decreasing. Now the Election Commission has also issued a show cause notice to him for his comment on Hema. The Election Commission of India has asked Randeep Surjewala to reply on this matter by the evening of 11 April. At the same time, the Commission has given time till the evening of 12th to Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge. The Commission has asked Kharge what steps have been taken to ensure strict compliance of the advisories given by leaders regarding maintaining the honor and dignity of women during public interactions.

Last month, a video of Congress leader Randeep Surjewala went viral on social media. In this video, Surjewala was making objectionable remarks against Mathura MP Hema Malini. The BJP had called it a derogatory and anti-women comment and had complained about the matter to the Election Commission. However, Surjewala had said that his video was cropped and shared and that he respects Lok Sabha member Hema Malini.

Hema Malini also reacted to the statement given by Surjewala. He had said that opposition leaders should learn to respect women from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Hema had said that the opposition only targets ‘popular people’.
