New Delhi. Tesla’s dream, which has been waiting for its entry in India for a long time, may now be fulfilled. The government had made a new policy regarding electric vehicles just a few days ago. Now news is coming that Tesla CEO Elon Musk will soon come to India and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Elon Musk himself has said this by posting on Twitter (x).
Elon Musk, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of American electric car manufacturing company Tesla, is coming to India this month. During his visit to India, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sources say that during this time Musk may also announce Tesla’s investment plans in India. A source said that during the visit to be held in the third week of the month, other company officials may also come along with Musk.

Had already made plans to meet
In June last year, Musk had met Modi during his US visit. At that time Musk had said that he planned to visit India in 2024. He also expressed confidence that Tesla will soon enter the Indian market. Tesla has been waiting to enter the Indian market for a long time, but talks have not been possible on many issues including tax.
The government has made a new policy
Just a few weeks before Musk’s upcoming visit to India, the government has announced a new electric vehicle policy. Under this, import duty concessions will be given to companies setting up manufacturing units in the country with a minimum investment of $ 500 million (about Rs 4 thousand crore). The aim of this step of the government is to attract major global companies like Tesla.
Why was the screw stuck?
Tesla had earlier tried to enter the Indian market directly. This means that there were preparations to make Tesla cars in China or other countries and sell them in the Indian market. The government was imposing heavy import duty on it, which Musk was trying to reduce. However, the government’s argument was that Tesla vehicles should be manufactured in India only then it will get entry in the Indian market.
