New Delhi: Preparations for the Lok Sabha elections are going on in full swing. While on one hand the political parties are working hard, on the other hand the Election Commission also does not want to leave any stone unturned. In this sequence, the Election Commission has issued another notification. According to the new notification, any kind of exit poll has been banned from 7 am on April 19 to 7:30 pm on June 1. During this period, no exit poll can be conducted nor can it be published or publicized.
Code of conduct implemented across the country
The Election Commission has issued a notification regarding the exit poll. According to this notification, there is a ban on conducting, publishing or promoting exit polls between 7 am on April 19 and 6:30 pm on June 1. Let us tell you that in view of the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission has issued such a notification. Even before this, the code of conduct has already been implemented across the country. The Election Commission has also announced the dates of assembly elections of various states including Lok Sabha elections.
Assembly elections are to be held in many states
During the same period, apart from the Lok Sabha, voting will be held in different phases for the assembly elections of four states. The notification issued on Thursday also clarified that under the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, any public opinion poll or any other electoral survey in any electronic media during the period of 48 hours ending with the time fixed for the conclusion of polling, Display of any such election material including survey results will be prohibited. Apart from the Lok Sabha elections, elections for the legislative assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will also be held. During the same period, separate by-elections will also be held on 25 assembly seats in 12 states.
