New Delhi. Hyderabad Police on Friday arrested a former DCP of the Commissioner’s Task Force in connection with phone tapping and destruction of some computer systems and official data. Former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Radhakishan Rao has been sent to a local jail. The press release issued by the police said, “As part of the investigation in the case, Radhakishan Rao was called for questioning at Banjara Hills Police Station yesterday and during interrogation he confessed to his involvement in the alleged crimes of conspiracy to develop the profile. Have accepted. They were exploiting the designated rights and resources for personal gain.
As soon as the matter came to the notice of the DGP, he ordered an investigation into the matter. He was arrested on the basis of DCP’s confession. It has been claimed that he worked with other accused persons to destroy evidence of their illegal activities by causing damage to public property and making evidence disappear. Following his confession, he was arrested by the investigating officer at around 8 am today and produced before a local court. The release said that judicial custody was demanded, which was accepted. He will remain in jail in judicial custody till April 12.

Police had earlier said that they had arrested Praneet Rao on March 13. He is accused of developing profiles of several individuals and secretly and illegally monitoring them without permission, besides destroying some computer systems and official data. As part of the investigation into the case, the police had recently issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against former SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao and then Deputy Commissioner of Police P Radhakishan of the Commissioner’s Task Force and a senior executive of a Telugu TV channel.
