Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar interacted with farmers across the country while launching the “Kisan Bhagidari, Primary Hamari” campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. During this, he said that under his government, the income of farmers has not only doubled but has also increased 10 times. Claiming that the income of farmers would increase by two to ten times, the Agriculture Minister said that such progressive farmers should go from village to village and make people aware of farming so that they too become prosperous.
Tomar, while addressing the Crop Insurance School under “Farmer Partnership Priority Our” program, said that farmers associated with latest technology and government’s agriculture related schemes have prospered and their families have progressed. During the last five to six years, the income of such farmers has increased by two to ten times. He said that if these farmers go from village to village as “Agriculture Ambassadors”, then the economy of agriculture will be strengthened.
Farmers are getting right price for wheat and mustard
The Agriculture Minister said that today farmers are getting better price for their products than the Minimum Support Price in the market. Wheat and mustard are getting better price and adulteration in mustard oil has been stopped, due to which the farmers are very happy. The government will also take such other steps which are in the interest of the farmers. He said that a provision of one lakh crore rupees has been made for the construction of agricultural infrastructure in rural areas, out of which projects worth eight thousand crore rupees have been approved. . With this, the development of storage and other facilities will be done. The contribution of banks in this matter has been commendable.
Agriculture Minister said – farmers are getting benefit from organic farming
Emphasizing on the implementation of natural farming in mission mode, Tomar said that this will reduce the cost of agriculture and farmers will get good price for their products. At present, organic farming is being done on 38 lakh hectares of land, due to which farmers are getting good benefits. He said that many problems can arise due to deteriorating harmony with nature. We are dependent on other countries for chemical fertilizers and if they refuse to give these fertilizers then problem will arise.
Now record production of horticultural crops is also happening
The Agriculture Minister said that at one time there was a shortage of food grains in the country, for which Green Revolution was started and chemical fertilizers were used for this. Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh had contributed immensely in making the Green Revolution a success. Now the country produces more food grains than required and record production of horticultural crops is being done.
Government getting rid of farmers from moneylenders
Agricultural products worth more than four lakh crore rupees have been exported from the country, for which farmers deserve congratulations. Tomar said that the Kisan Credit Card campaign is being run in the country for the last seven years to provide relief to the farmers from moneylenders and animal husbandry has also been linked to it. Under this, a loan of Rs 15 lakh crore has been given to the farmers. On this loan, farmers pay interest at the rate of four percent.
