New Delhi. The dominance of the Board of Control for Cricket in India is not hidden from anyone in international cricket. In Asia, BCCI’s voice speaks volumes and the biggest example of this was seen in the Asia Cup held last year. India openly expressed its desire not to go to Pakistan and play in Pakistan, and despite many efforts, the Pakistan Cricket Board could not persuade Team India to invite them and play the match.
It has been announced by BCCI long ago that the Indian cricket team will not go to Pakistan and play any match under any circumstances. Last year, the Pakistan Cricket Board was adamant in the Asia Cup, but the result was that the board hosting the tournament got only 4 matches. 9 matches were snatched from his hands and he was sent to Sri Lanka. The Indian team played the final of the tournament in Sri Lanka and won the title by defeating the host Sri Lanka.
Now considering the situation in Asia Cup, PCB avoids even the question of India. When asked whether Pakistan would consider giving a ‘tit-for-tat’ reply if the Indian government refused to send its team to Pakistan, Naqvi said, “Why are we even discussing such possibilities?”
He said, ‘We had a good meeting in Dubai on the tournament and its technical aspects and as far as we are concerned we see no reason why the tournament will not be held in Pakistan, so why not discuss other possibilities.’
India had refused to send its team for the Asia Cup in August last year, due to which many matches were held in Sri Lanka.
