New Delhi: The Central Government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court in the case of misleading advertisements against allopathic medicines. The Ministry of AYUSH has criticized Patanjali’s statements regarding allopathic medicines and said that the government had warned Patanjali during Corona itself. The government through its affidavit in the Supreme Court has advocated for an integrated health care system and in its reply it has been emphasized that individuals have the option to avail AYUSH or allopathic medicines.
The central government told the Supreme Court that during the Covid-19 pandemic, Patanjali was cautioned against promoting Coronil as a cure for the virus unless it was duly examined by the Ministry of AYUSH. Patanjali was reminded of the requirements for conducting mandatory trials by the ministry. In its response, the AYUSH Ministry has also highlighted the importance of mutual respect between different systems of medicine.
The Center said in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that the current policy of the Government of India advocates a model of integrated health care system with integration of AYUSH systems with allopathy. It is the choice of an individual or healthcare seeker to avail the services of AYUSH system or allopathic medicine. The Health Ministry had received various representations regarding Coronil, after which a notice was issued to Patanjali.
The Center further said that the company was requested not to advertise claims about the efficacy of Coronil against corona until the matter is fully investigated by the ministry. The government is encouraged to utilize the strengths of each health care system for the betterment of the overall health of its citizens. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court will hear this case today. In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had also reprimanded Patanjali.
