AC Expiry Date
Many incidents of fire and blast in Windows or Split AC have come to light in the last few days. In view of the increasing heat, it has become our compulsion to install AC in homes or offices. A severe heat wave is currently going on in the entire North India, in which the mercury is generally between 45-50 degrees Celsius. With the increase in heat, people are also buying new ACs. At the same time, many people are also getting their old ACs serviced, so that they can get relief from the heat.
If you are also planning to buy a new AC, then this question must have come to your mind that what is the life of an AC i.e. for how many years can you use an AC? Most of the cases of AC blast have come up due to poor maintenance or short circuit. Many people keep using the AC even after it becomes old, which can prove to be very dangerous.
What are Window and Split AC?
At present, there are generally two types of ACs available in the market, which include Window and Split AC. Window AC is installed on the windows of the house. In this, the air throwing and cooling system are installed in the same box. On the other hand, Split AC has an indoor and an outdoor unit. The indoor unit is installed on the wall of the room. On the other hand, the outdoor unit is installed in the balcony outside the house. It has a compressor and a big fan, which throws out the hot air.
For how many years should you use AC?
Companies generally offer a 10-year warranty on the compressor of all brands of AC sold in the market, which means you can use your home’s AC without any fear for 10 years. However, you will have to get the AC maintained every season so that gas leakage or dirt etc. can be cleaned.
You can generally use a window AC for 8 to 10 years. Whereas, you can run a Split AC for 10 to 15 years. However, this will completely depend on the maintenance and condition of the AC. If the AC is not maintained on time, then the chances of compressor blast and fire in the AC will increase significantly.
