New Delhi. Former Union Minister Pandit Sukh Ram, a veteran leader of Himachal Pradesh, has passed away at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. Condoling his death, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has expressed deep grief. Pandit Sukhram, 94, was brought to Delhi from Himachal Pradesh for better treatment and was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on May 7.
Expressing grief over the death of Pandit Sukh Ram, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur tweeted, “Saddened to hear about the death of former Union Minister and senior leader Pandit Sukhram ji from Mandi. He has made a significant contribution in the political field. Who will always be remembered. May God give place to the departed soul at his feet and give courage to the bereaved family members. Om Shanti!
Let us tell you that on May 4 this month, Pandit Sukhram had a brain stroke in Manali, after which he was admitted to a hospital in Mandi. He was later brought to Delhi on Saturday for better treatment. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had provided a government helicopter on May 7 to bring him from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi.
Pandit Sukhram was the Minister of Communications in the Narasimha Rao government at the Centre. He was also a member of the Legislative Assembly five times and Lok Sabha three times.
