New Delhi. Delhi High Court has given a big decision for the commissioning of women on higher posts in the army through Combined Defense Services (CDS). The court has asked the Defense Ministry to take a decision in eight weeks. A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court regarding this, demanding that women should be allowed to join the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force through the CDS examination. There is still a provision for appointment of women in the army in some departments through CDS. Advocate Kush Kalra had filed a petition in this regard, which was also disposed of with the decision.
Today, when the court disposed of this petition, a demand was made that the petition should be kept pending until the Defense Ministry takes a decision on it, but the court said that there is no need for this. The bench said that let the central government take the decision. The lawyer appearing in the court on behalf of the petitioner said that there should be no discrimination against women in appointment through CDS in the army. However, the court said that the Defense Ministry has the right to take a decision in this regard, give them time.

What is the current arrangement regarding women in CDS?
Through CDS examinations, direct appointment to the post of officer in all three wings of the Indian Army, Navy, Army and Air Force is available. Candidates who clear the CDS exam have to undergo cadet training. Under this, Rs 56,100 per month is given as stipend based on level 10 during training only. Women can also appear for this examination but if selected, they can only join the Officers Training Academy (OTA). They cannot directly join the Army, Navy or Air Service.
