In the year 2021, many automakers launched their cars, some of which made in India cars were crash test tested. Some were given a 5-star rating on the safety scale, while others were seen to have faded colors in safety. In this article, we bring to you the list of cars made in India that got tested at the Global NCAP. Let’s take a look at which cars are safe and which are not.
Mahindra Xuv700
The XUV700 was launched in November as Mahindra & Mahindra’s flagship model, soon after which the car underwent a global NCAP crash test. Mahindra XUV700 has got five stars for adult safety and 4 stars for child safety. Let us tell you, the XUV700 has joined a special list of safest Indian cars, which already has Mahindra’s XUV300 and Thar SUV.
Tata Punch
Tata Motors’ punch SUV in the country has proved that size doesn’t matter when it comes to safety. Ahead of its launch in October this year, Tata Punch garnered a 5-star rating in crash tests. Punch was rated Top Rated for Adult Occupant Protection and Punch also received 4-star rating for Child Occupant Protection.
Tata Tigor EV
The Tigor EV is the first Indian electric car to be tested by the Global NCAP agency for safety ratings. The Tigor EV was launched earlier this year as India’s most affordable electric car, garnering a 4-star rating in crash tests. The Tata Tigor EV gets two airbags as standard. Apart from the dual airbags, the Tigor EV also comes with other safety features like ABS with EBD, corner stability control and rear parking sensors.
Nissan Magnite
Nissan’s Magnite sub-compact SUV was also among other Indian cars that cleared the safety tests conducted by global agencies. About a year ago, the Magnite SUV underwent a crash test at ASEAN NCAP and got a 4-star safety rating. In the Indian market, the Magnite SUV comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.
Tata Tiago & Tigor
Apart from the punchy SUV, Tata Motors’ Tiago hatchback and the Tigor sub-compact sedan earned a 4-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test in January this year. Apart from the punch, both the cars join the Altroz and Nexon in the list of safe cars in the country. Let us tell you, Tigor and Tiago got four stars for adult occupant protection and three stars for child occupant protection.
