what is the booster dose of corona vaccine
Although many vaccines give protection for life to protect against viruses, but there are many diseases in which this vaccine is not able to give protection. The reason for this is that the antibodies produced by the vaccine start weakening. To strengthen the same, people are being given the facility of booster dose. In the case of corona virus, it is seen that the virus is making its new variants from time to time, due to which it is necessary to take the third dose for protection.
Why is a booster dose necessary?
It is coming to the fore in all the studies and research regarding the corona vaccine that the level of antibodies starts falling after 6 months in both the doses of the corona vaccine. In such a situation, despite taking the vaccine, the risk of getting infected with the virus increases. To reduce this risk, it becomes necessary to have a booster dose.
Who can get booster dose
People who have completed 6 months or 26 weeks after getting the second corona vaccine, then you can take advantage of the facility of this booster dose. Although earlier its time was up to 9 months but now the government has reduced it to 6 months. For this, you can also check whether you can take a booster dose or not by going to the Covin app.
Free booster dose will be given only at these centers
Let us tell here that at the private vaccination center, you will have to pay the same amount as before for the booster dose. However, the facility of booster dose will be available free of cost at government centers. For a booster dose of Covishield and Covaccine at private centers, you will have to pay Rs 225. Along with this, you will have to pay the service charge separately.
