The Pakistan Cricket Board is discussing the issue with top ICC officials. However, this issue is still a sensitive subject. An ICC source with knowledge of the matter said, “A lot will depend on what the BCCI (Cricket Board of India) and the Government of India decide, but Pakistan would like to play most of their World Cup matches in Kolkata and Chennai.” Will do.
He told, ‘Pakistan players were happy about the security during the match against India in Kolkata during the 2016 T20 World Cup. Chennai is a memorable place for Pakistan. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium has a capacity of 1,32,000 spectators and it would be a profitable deal for the ICC to hold India-Pakistan matches here. Although the final of the World Cup will be played in this stadium, the India-Pakistan match will be held at some other venue.
Recently, ICC General Manager Wasim Khan said in a personal capacity that Pakistan could play their matches in Bangladesh during the World Cup, but PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) chairman Najam Sethi and the ICC rubbished it. Pakistan played the semi-final match against India in the 2011 World Cup at Mohali. Its purpose was to make it easier for the fans there to come to the stadium. This time, however, Mohali is not on the BCCI’s list of World Cup venues.
