Now Japanese player Honda is also preparing to launch its first electric vehicle in the Indian market soon.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India President, Atsushi Ogata, in a recent statement to the media, confirmed that the company is evaluating our market for electric vehicles and mentioned that, within the next financial year. An electric vehicle may be introduced. According to a report in ET Auto, last year the Honda Benly e electric scooter was spied testing at the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) facility in Pune.

The Japanese company has clarified that Honda is not looking at bringing a B2B product to our market, but is testing battery-swapping technology. For this Honda has also set up its subsidiary Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt Ltd and is currently doing a pilot run with three wheelers in Bengaluru.
Honda Activa is the best selling model in the Indian market from the company’s side, the company sells this scooter in lakhs of numbers every month. In such a situation, using Activa name plate for its electric vehicle can prove to be very beneficial for the company. It is the largest selling scooter in the country. Currently, models such as electric scooters like Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ola S1, Ather Energy are available for sale in the market, and Honda Activa Electric will directly compete with these models.
The scooter will be equipped with swappable battery system:
According to media reports, the company can use swappable battery system in the upcoming new Honda Activa Electric. It can also be offered under a subscription plan, as Bounce Electric does for its scooters. When the battery of this scooter is discharged, it can be easily replaced with another battery and you will be able to travel easily without any hassle. It is also news that the company can give the option to choose this scooter with battery and without battery.
At present, there is no information about the mechanism, driving range and price of the Honda Activa electric scooter. But experts believe that it can be offered in the industry with the best driving range and affordable price. Scooters like Bajaj Chetak and TVS are priced around Rs 1 to 1.25 lakh in the market, it is expected that Honda will also offer its scooter in this price range.
