Regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a statement on Tuesday (April 23) that all airlines should ensure that children below 12 years of age sit with their parents during flights. This step has been taken by the regulator keeping in mind the safety of children during flights.
DGCA said airlines must ensure that children up to 12 years of age are allotted seats along with at least one of their parents/guardians traveling on the same PNR. And its record will be kept. Airline got permission to charge for these services
Apart from this, DGCA has given permission to airlines to carry zero baggage, preferred seat sharing, meals, drinks and musical instruments. For this, changes have also been made in Air Transport Circular 01 2024.
DGCA has clarified that these facilities are on opt-in basis i.e. on your wish. This is not mandatory at all. There is also the facility of auto seat for the passengers, in which the company automatically gives you the seat. In such a situation, all those passengers who would not have taken their seats during web check-in. They will be allotted a seat automatically by the airline.
