Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant won the election from his traditional Sankhali seat. He expressed confidence that this victory was very challenging for me. Because I was preaching throughout the kingdom. So could not reach his constituency. My workers had campaigned for me. I live by a small margin. The Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form the government once again in the state. At present, victory has been confirmed in 20 seats. Whereas 3 independent MLAs have spoken of supporting us.
TMC and AAP sabotaged Congress’s vote bank
In a discussion with AnyTV, senior journalist Rashid Kidwai says that this time in the Goa Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC and Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party also gave full force against the BJP. Apart from this, the Goa Forward Party and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party along with the Congress were already in the fray against the BJP. But the votes going against the BJP were divided among all the opposition parties.
Where Mamta contested the elections in alliance with smaller parties. At the same time, Kejriwal had fielded his candidates in 39 out of 40 seats. In such a situation, both these parties broke into the Congress vote bank. The BJP has benefited the most and it emerged as a big party in the elections. Had this Congress party put aside its arrogance and formed an alliance with other smaller parties including TeamAC, then today the result could have gone in favor of the Congress alliance.
CM Sawant will be stronger now
This is the first time in the history of Goa that BJP has come to power for the third time in a row. Under the leadership of Manohar Parrikar, BJP formed the government in Goa for the first time in 2000 and remained in power for 4 years 101 days. After this, the BJP formed the government in 2012 and 2017 under the leadership of Parrikar.
In fact, this was the first election for the BJP after the late BJP leader and former CM Manohar Parrikar. Many leaders of Goa BJP and organization were seen opposing CM Pramod Sawant in a subdued language, but now after the victory of BJP and Sawant, the voices of protest will stop. Sawant will now emerge stronger and stronger than before. However, the ministers who were making fierce rhetoric against Sawant during the election, now it is almost certain that he will be discharged from the cabinet.
