100 E-Vehicle Charging Stations in Delhi: The work of making Delhi electric vehicles friendly is going on in full swing. Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain said on Monday that 100 new e-vehicle charging stations will be set up by June 27 at major places in the capital, of which 71 will be at metro stations.
Jain said in a press conference that the charges for using these charging station facility would be Rs 2 per unit. He claims that it will be the lowest in the country.
Jain said that our EV policy envisages one charging station per 3 km in Delhi. Tenders were invited for setting up of 100 (e-vehicle) charging stations with 500 charging points which are now closed and 100 major locations have been identified where the charging stations will be set up and out of these at 71 metro stations. will be located.
As per the tender, these charging stations will be built on PPP (Public-Private-Partnership) mode. The land, cabling and transmission infrastructure will be provided by the government, while equipment and staff will be provided by the company.
The minister said that the tenders were selected on the basis of lowest service charge out of 12 bidders and this service charge has been kept in the “negative” price. He said that these charging stations would be made operational within three months. Jain said the agreements would be signed by April 8 and would be operational by June 27.
Jasmin Shah, vice-chairman of the Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC), said that at present there are around 400 charging points in the city and these are owned by government and private companies. Now with 500 more charging points the number will soon more than double. Shah also said that 100 places in the capital have been selected on the basis of a scientific survey.
