New Delhi: In view of the estimated increase in travel demand this summer, the Railway Ministry is going to increase the number of additional trains by 43 percent. This will help in reaching more passengers conveniently to their desired destinations. The Railway Ministry said in a statement that to ensure the convenience of passengers and keeping in mind the anticipated increase in travel demand during summer, the Railways is going to operate a record 9,111 trips of trains in the summer season.
The number of trips will be increased
The Railway Ministry said that “This represents a substantial increase compared to summer 2023 when a total of 6,369 additional trains were offered. Thus, the number of trips of trains has increased by 2742 which demonstrates the commitment of Indian Railways to effectively meet the demands of passengers. The Railway Ministry said that to ensure uninterrupted travel on major railway routes, Additional trains have been carefully planned to connect major destinations across the country. Out of these 9,111 additional trains, Western Railways will operate the maximum number of 1,878 trains. After this, North Western Railways will run 1,623 additional trains while South Central Railways will operate 1,012 and East Central Railways will operate 1,003 trains.
Railways completed preparations
The Railway Ministry said that “All the zonal railways spread across the country have accepted these additional orders during the summer from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Delhi, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.” Geared up to conduct the tours.” The Ministry has taken this decision on the basis of details of waitlisted passengers in the PRS system as well as information received from media reports, social media forums and railway helpline number 139.
