Google has decided to shut down its payment app GPay. This payment app of Google will be closed on June 4, 2024. Lakhs of users may be troubled due to the closure of this payment app of Google. This decision of the tech company has come because of the Google Wallet app launched in the year 2022. Along with Google Wallet, Google Pay app is also working in many countries. Google has announced the closure of the standalone GPay app.
Will work only in these countries
Google has taken this decision only for American users. After June 4, this app will work only in India and Singapore. GPay’s standalone app will not be available in other countries. Giving this information in its blog post, Google has said that peer-to-peer (P2P) payments and account management done through GPay will be stopped. However, users will be able to transfer their GPay balance to their account even after June 4, 2024. For this, users will have to use Google Pay website.
In its blog, Google said that GPay has been replaced by Google Wallet in 180 countries. However, users will be able to use Google Pay service through Google Wallet app. Not only debit and credit card top-up is done through GPay. Rather, this Google app provides many services including transport pass, state ID, driver license, virtual car keys.
Google closed its payment apps several times
Let us tell you that this is not the first time that Google has decided to shut down its payment app. Google first launched Google Wallet in the year 2011. After this, Google launched Android Pay app in 2015, in which Google Wallet was integrated. After this, Google discontinued Google Wallet Card in 2016. Now the company has once again decided to integrate all its services into Google Wallet.
Google first launched Tez app in India, which was later renamed Google Pay. Now it is available on Google Play Store in the name of GPay. UPI payment can be done through Google Pay app in India.
