new Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the government is taking important steps to provide pucca houses to every poor in the country. In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi shared that more than three crore houses have been built under the PM Awas Yojana.
PM Modi also informed that all the houses are equipped with basic necessities and have become a symbol of women empowerment. He said that construction of three crore houses has been possible only through public participation.
As per the information shared by the Prime Minister, a total of 2,52 crore houses were constructed under PM Awas Yojana (Rural) and 58 lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana (Urban).
The Center has so far provided assistance of Rs 1.95 lakh crore for PM Awas Yojana (Rural) and gas connection under Ujjwala Yojana.
Under PM Awas Yojana (Urban) central assistance of Rs 1.18 lakh crore has been provided.
The special feature of PM Awas Yojana is that the ownership is given in the name of a woman member or jointly and every house has a connection of water, electricity, toilet and gas.
