Omkareshwar (Naiduniya News). For the convenience of Shiva devotees in the pilgrimage town, the state government is doing development work and arrangements on a large scale. In this, the grand statue of Adiguru Shankaracharya on the Omkar mountain, the museum and the establishment of the International Advaita Vedanta Institute are prominent. For this, the greenery and many places of archaeological importance on the Omkar mountain, a symbol of faith, are disappearing. In such a situation, the local people and the faithful have demanded development and beautification of the circumambulation route of Mount Omkar.
Where earlier it was difficult to walk on the Omkar mountain, now four wheelers are running. The entire work is being done under the guidance of Prasadam scheme and Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Culture Department. With the aim of giving the message of integration, there is a situation of doubt among the people about the future of the Parikrama route of Omkar mountain due to the proposed 30-acre statue site on the mountain and other construction works. No effort is being made by the tourism department to clear the doubts about the Parikrama Marg. In such a situation, the voices of protest are also getting louder. Vedic Pandit Shrikant Joshi while propounding the importance of circumambulation of the mountain says that along with Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, the Omkar mountain has special significance. Work should be done keeping this in mind.
The establishment of the statue will lead to the development of the pilgrimage town
With the installation of the statue of Acharya Shankaracharya, a new chapter will be added in the field of tourism of Omkareshwar city. With the increase in the number of tourists, the business of boatmen, shopkeepers, pandits, priests, hotels etc. will increase. At present, the means of livelihood of the residents of Omkareshwar are only devotees and visitors. So many people are eagerly waiting for the completion of this scheme.
Nathu Singh, the former President of Omkareshwar Municipal Council, says that the government should establish the statue of Adi Shankaracharya, as well as work after taking care of the dignity and greenery of the Parikrama Marg and the mountain.
Pandit Naval Kishore Sharma says that Adi Shankaracharya is the place of initiation. It is a matter of pride that Hindu Sanatan Dharma was propagated. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken a pledge to establish the Ashtadhatu statue of Guru Shankaracharya by the year 2023, rising to a height of 108 feet. This will open new doors of development in Okareshwar.
Social worker Pandit Shailendra Upadhyay says that the wind of development and change has started in the city of Lord Bholenath. The decision of the central and state government is welcome.
Social worker Pandit Lalit Dubey said that development works worth crores of rupees are going on in the initiation site of Adiguru Shankaracharya. There is a state of confusion among the local people and scholars regarding the parikrama route. The administration should disclose the status of the parikrama route.
