Ranchi. The Jharkhand government is contemplating setting up fast track courts to ensure speedy justice to the victims in cases related to mob lynching incidents in the state. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam gave this information in response to a question asked by CPI ML MLA Vinod Singh during the assembly proceedings on Monday. In a written reply from the government, it has been told that since the year 2016 till now, there have been about 46 incidents of mob lynching in Jharkhand. About 51 accused accused in these incidents have been sentenced to life imprisonment and a compensation of Rs 19 lakh 90 thousand has been given as compensation to the victims. Parliamentary Affairs Minister told the House that the government is contemplating to set up fast track courts for speedy disposal of mob lynching cases.
During the short period in the assembly, MLA Vinod Singh raised this matter in the house during the short period in the house and said that from the year 2016 to 2021, about 58 incidents of mob lynching were carried out in Jharkhand. Recently, Rupesh Pandey in Kariyatpur in Hazaribagh and Sunil Pasi in Khatko of Bagodar were murdered in mob lynching. The MLA said that no one has been punished in these cases so far. He said that many victims of mob lynching have not even been provided support money by the government.
Let us inform that the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly had also passed the Anti Mob Lynching Bill in the last winter session. This bill, passed on December 21, has not yet taken the form of law. The governor’s approval on the bill is yet to come. Raj Bhavan is studying it. It is being told that the Governor will take legal opinion on this. Only then will a decision be taken on its approval. According to the provisions of this bill, those involved in mob lynching and those who conspired will be punished with maximum imprisonment for life. The bill provides for attachment of property with fine and imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years to life. If someone dies in mob lynching, then the guilty will be punished up to life imprisonment. In case of grievous hurt, there is a provision for imprisonment of 10 years to life imprisonment. The abettors will also be found guilty and will be punished with three years’ imprisonment. Those who destroy any evidence related to the crime will also be considered as an offender. Along with this, there is a system of compensation to the victim’s family and free treatment to the victim.
