British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s visit to India has raised the concerns of the government. The main reason for this is the ongoing tension after the violence in the capital Delhi. It is reported that the government is concerned about the situation during the meeting of PM Modi and his British counterpart to be held in Delhi on 22 April. The agencies are also ready in view of security. The special thing is that on April 16, violence erupted during a procession in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. Since then the situation in the area has remained tense.
Sources are being told in media reports that the government is concerned that during Johnson’s visit to India on April 22, no riots or untoward incident should happen. According to an earlier statement issued by Downing Street, “The tour will begin on Thursday (21 April) with a business meeting in Ahmedabad and a link between commerce, business and people of India and Britain.”
It further added, ‘This will be the first time that a British PM will reach Gujarat, India’s fifth largest state and the ancestral home of nearly half the British-Indian population.’ In Gujarat, Johnson is expected to announce major investments in industries in the UK and India as well as new science, health and technology projects.
“The Prime Minister will then travel to New Delhi on Friday (April 22) to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the statement said. The leaders will hold in-depth discussions on the UK and India’s strategic security, diplomatic and economic partnership. The goal of this discussion is to improve our close partnership and enhance security assistance in the Indo-Pacific.
