New Delhi. Recently, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi raised questions about Prime Minister Narendra Modi being an OBC and during the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra, he said that he comes from the general category and not from OBC. Since then, a political uproar has arisen regarding this statement of Rahul Gandhi. There have been various reactions regarding this from the Bharatiya Janata Party also. Meanwhile, Narhari Amin, a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat and former Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, posted one after the other, writing, “As the Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat in the Congress government, I clearly remember that important moment of July 25, 1994. , when the Government of Gujarat officially recognized the Modh-Ghanchi community as an Other Backward Class (OBC). The thing to note is that this decision pertains to the same community from which our Prime Minister Narendra Modi belongs. “It is important to set the record straight amid recent claims made by Rahul Gandhi, which appear to be based on misinformation and a lack of historical context.”
Narhari Amin said, “Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments not only lack factual accuracy but also border on defamation, especially towards OBC communities. It is necessary for him to withdraw these baseless allegations and sincerely apologize not only to the people of Gujarat but also to the wider OBC community for his baseless statements.”
Narhari Amin wrote in another tweet, “Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the decision to classify the Modh-Ghanchi community as OBC was taken by any member of Parliament (MP), Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) including Narendra Modi. This was done long before he even held important political office. Chief Minister (CM). Therefore, any indication of personal influence or manipulation by Narendra Modi in this matter is completely wrong and unjustified.”
In the spirit of fairness and respect for truth, I urge Rahul Gandhi to refrain from spreading misinformation and instead focus on constructive dialogue and the real issues affecting our country. “Defaming individuals or communities based on false narratives only serves to undermine the integrity of our democratic process and the dignity of our diverse society.”
