Work started on the railway overbridge connecting Race Course Road and Tansen Marg
Gwalior New ROB News: Gwalior (Naiduniya Representative). The work of launching the arched guard on the railway overbridge connecting the city’s Race Course Road and Tansen Marg has started. Railways will complete this work by March 15. The Public Works Department has done its share of work on this overbridge. Keeping pace with the pace of railways, Gwalior Smart City Development Corporation has issued a tender for road construction on both sides of the overbridge, so that the traffic of the city can be accelerated. On completion of both these works, the traffic of the city will get speed and a large number of vehicles will be able to move on this route. Earlier, vehicles used to pass through the railway underpass, due to which the situation of jam was created throughout the day.
The 870 meter long and 7.4 meter wide ROB between Tansen Nagar Road and Race Course Road via Gadar culvert is being built at a cost of Rs 35 crore, in which the railways have to make a 60 meter long part. The Public Works Department has completed its share of work on this overbridge and the railways was to do the work over the tracks. The deadline for the work was fixed as May 2020, but due to Corona and delay in tender, this work was getting delayed. Now the railways has started work on its part. To launch the guard of the bridge, 14 iron pillars have been erected. A total of 30 pillars will be erected for guard launching. Before Holi, the railway officials will finish their part of the work. At the same time, after the formation of ROB, vehicles can easily run on this entire route, for this, Smart City has also issued a tender for the construction of the road at a cost of Rs 2.38 crore.
The road will be ready in six months: The tender has been uploaded by Smart City on February 19 and it will be opened on March 23. The contractor firm will start work on this road from the month of April. A time limit of six months has been fixed for completion of this work. Under this, the contractor will have to completely excavate the existing road and prepare it anew. Apart from this, arrangement for drainage will also have to be made in the road.

To launch the guard on this ROB, the officers are taking only one and a half hour block a day. Since at present fewer trains are running during the day time, due to this the work is being done in the routine blocks falling during the day. Railway officials say that special blocks will not be required for this work, due to which the movement of trains will not be delayed.
This will benefit
The commuters traveling between suburban Gwalior and Vyapar Mela Road from ROB and New Road will have a two-kilometre detour. At present, people have to come from Tansen Nagar to the race course road via halt station, Bajaria. The connectivity of suburban Gwalior to city center and Murar will be improved. At present, people of Tansen Nagar, RP Colony, State Bank Chauraha have to go to Murar via Birla Nagar Bridge, Gola’s temple, but with the commissioning of this route, they will be able to reach the city center Murar directly via the bus stand.
We have started our part work on Tansen ROB. Iron pillars are being erected to launch the guard. We will complete this work before Holi.
