New Delhi. The demand for removal of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from the post faced a rebuke from the Delhi High Court on Monday. The High Court reprimanded the petition and said that it is being done for publicity. The court threatened a heavy fine against the petitioner. Former AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar, involved in the Delhi Liquor Policy money laundering case, had approached the court seeking Kejriwal’s removal from the post following his arrest and imprisonment.
Justice Subramaniam Prasad of Delhi High Court criticized Sandeep Kumar’s petition. However, the court did not dismiss this petition saying that a bench had already heard a similar petition. This petition should also be heard before the same bench. This petition can be heard on Wednesday.
The last two petitions have been rejected
Earlier, the High Court had already rejected two similar petitions filed by others. A bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan Singh and Justice Manmeet PS Arora had on April 4 refused to consider a PIL, saying it was Kejriwal’s personal choice to remain the chief minister. Similarly, another PIL of similar nature was dismissed holding that the petitioner failed to establish any legal impediment preventing the arrested Chief Minister from assuming office.
