they will compete
India’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp has been working on its ambitious first electric vehicle project for quite some time. The company had released the teaser of its upcoming electric scooter only last year. In India, it will compete with electric scooters like TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1.
company intention
On the company’s electric vehicle rollout plans, Gupta said that Hero MotoCorp will eventually cover all segments whether it is premium, medium or mass category. Because it aims to make electric vehicles accessible to all and not just to a specific group of people or specific people in certain geographic areas.
He said, “The effort is that we have to really spread it to all regions and also to penetrate into every geographical area. Now what will be its speed, at what level will it be done, these are some questions which we will have to ask when the time comes. will share.”
Company’s big plans
Talking about the company’s strategy, Gupta said Hero MotoCorp will continue to invest in Ather Energy and Gogoro. In both these companies where he has already invested a lot. Further, we are building collaborations and partnerships with multiple players in the ecosystem and hence we are taking EVs as an ecosystem rather than just a product or a source of revenue, he added.
Apart from working on electric scooters, Hero MotoCorp has also joined hands with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to set up electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the country. This EV charging infrastructure will support the charging of electric two-wheelers.
Gupta said that apart from electric vehicles, Hero MotoCorp will also focus on launching more and more products in the premium portfolio. This will ultimately boost the two-wheeler maker’s market share in the segment.
