Holi 2022 Upay: In Hinduism, fire is considered sacred. At the same time, the importance of fire increases on Holi. People light the stove of their house with the fire of Holika Dahan so that happiness and prosperity remain in the family. The food is cooked in its fire and taken as prasad. On this day women worship Holika with milk, water, kumkum, akshat, flowers and pray that just as God saved Prahlad from calamities, in the same way protect his family.
On this day a coconut made of cow dung is offered to Holika. Round chakras made of cow dung are also offered and the meaning of these chakras is that just as Lord Vishnu protects the devotees with his chakra, he should also protect us. Before Holika Dahan, people circumambulate it with raw yarn and wrap it on Holika so that Prahlad ji can be protected. This belief gives people the moral strength to fight against untruth.
Holika Puja with good wishes
This festival is celebrated by married women for the happiness and prosperity of the family. In ancient times, women used to worship Purnima and wished for the happiness of the family. In the Vedic period, Holi was called Navaneshti Yagya. At that time, there was a law in the society to donate half-ripe grain of the field to the yajna and accept the prasad. The food offered in the Yagya was called Hola and hence the festival was named Holika. The festival of protection of Dharma with Prahlad is also associated with this festival and hence it is also seen as a festival of protection of Dharma.
According to Manusmriti, the birth of Manu is mentioned on this day. It is said that Manu was the first human to come to this earth. The day also describes the birth of ‘Nara-Narayan’, who is believed to be the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
