Kolkata: Now the Home Ministry has become strict regarding the attack on the ED team during the raid in North 24 Parganas district. The ministry has sought answers from the Mamata government of West Bengal regarding this incident. According to news agency ANI, quoting sources, on Tuesday the Union Home Ministry has sought a report from the Mamata government regarding the incident of January 5.

There is a commotion between both the parties and the opposition in the state regarding this incident. While many ministers of the state termed this incident as a result of public anger, the opposition BJP has termed it as hooliganism of TMC. Let us tell you that on January 5, the ED team had reached Sandeshkhali to raid the house of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh in connection with alleged irregularities in the state’s ration system. Meanwhile, hundreds of Sheikh’s supporters attacked the team. Three officers were injured in this attack.
800 to 1000 people attacked
Giving information after the attack, ED had said that during the search of the team, 800 to 1000 people attacked the ED team and CRPF personnel in a premises with the intention of killing them. These people had weapons like sticks, stones and bricks. And the mob also snatched away personal and official belongings of ED officers like phones, laptops, cash, wallets etc. Also some vehicles were badly damaged.
