Lucknow. In the UP elections, the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM has been accused of acting as a B-team of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In many seats, Owaisi’s candidate has put votes in his account. Had these same votes been added to the SP-RLD alliance, the BJP’s defeat would have been ensured.
In UP, BJP has won 7 seats by 200 votes, 23 seats by 500 votes, 49 seats by 1000 votes, 86 seats by 2000 votes. Owaisi has generously scored on all these seats and has helped the BJP by dividing the opposition votes.
For example, in Bijnor, SP-RLD got 95,720 votes while AIMIM got 2,290 votes. BJP won this seat by getting 97,165 votes which is 1,445 more than SP-RLD.
In Nakur, BJP got 1,03,771 votes while SP got 1,03,616 votes. The AIMIM got 3,591 votes, giving the seat to the BJP. Similarly, in Barabanki chair seat, BJP got 1,18,614 votes, while SP got 1,18,094 and AIMIM got 8,541 votes.
In Sultanpur, BJP got 92,245 votes and SP got 90,857 votes. AIMIM had a loss of 5,251 votes. In Aurai assembly seat, AIMIM polled 2,190 votes, giving BJP 93,691 votes, while Samajwadi Party got 92,044 votes.
In Shahganj, BJP won by 76,035 votes and SP trailed by 70,370 votes. AIMIM got 7,070 votes.
In Firozabad, BJP got 1,12,509 and Samajwadi Party with 79,554 votes while AIMIM got 18,898 votes.
Political analysts believe that the AIMIM entered the politics of Uttar Pradesh with a definite goal of ensuring that non-BJP votes do not coalesce in one place.
