New Delhi. Indian cricket team’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant had to stay away from the cricket field after a serious car accident. After being badly injured in 2022, it became difficult for him to even stand. Questions were being raised regarding the return of Rishabh Pant, but he not only started standing on his feet as quickly as possible and started walking but also started cricket practices. Now he is ready to play for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
Mental strength and experience of playing gymnastics helped wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant to make quick recovery. After the horrific car accident that took place on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway in December 2022, Pant has got permission to play in the IPL starting from March 22. Tulsi Yuvraj, physiotherapist at the National Cricket Academy, told BCCI TV, “His mental strength and self-confidence inspired us to give 100 percent during his rehab.”
He said, ‘Doctors thought it would take him two years. Once he came to NCA, he started recovering rapidly. Nishanta Bordoloi, strength and conditioning coach at NCA, said that Pant had also been a gymnast in his childhood, which helped in his recovery.
He said, “Rishabh’s gymnastics background helped us a lot. This was very useful in many things, for example, when he felt that he could not move forward, he was able to stand on his feet again.
Pant left no stone unturned for recovery but he found the process boring. He said, “Rehab (the period of regaining fitness after injury) is quite boring. Doing the same thing again and again but there is no option other than doing it. The more you do, the sooner you will recover. Very happy to be back on the field. My love for cricket has increased. Earlier also I was in love with it but now it has become too much.
