Shiv Dubey played an inning of 45 runs
Earlier, due to the brilliant performance of the fast bowlers amid the brilliant innings of Shivam Dubey (45 runs), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) restricted CSK’s innings to 165 runs for 5 wickets. Dubey hit two fours and four sixes in his 24-ball innings but other batsmen of the team were seen struggling to score runs quickly. Hyderabad’s fast bowlers made excellent use of slow balls and did not allow CSK’s run rate to increase much. Ajinkya Rahane scored 35 runs off 30 balls while Ravindra Jadeja scored 31 unbeaten runs off 23 balls. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed 26 runs in 21 balls.
CSK scored 48 runs for 1 wicket in powerplay.
T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins, Shahbaz Ahmed and Jaydev Unadkat took one wicket each for Hyderabad. At the beginning of the match, Bhuvneshwar was successful in swinging the ball and he got the benefit of this with the wicket of Rachin Ravindra (12 runs in nine balls). Gaikwad was playing cautiously from one end while Rahane, on the other end, hit a six on Cummins and a four on Bhuvneshwar. Rituraj also hit a spectacular six after hitting a four against this bowler, due to which the team’s score in the powerplay became 48 runs for one wicket. In an attempt to speed up the run-rate, he played Shahbaz’s ball into the hands of Abdul Samad.
Shivam Dubey hit a six and a four as soon as he came.
Shivam Dubey, after hitting a six and a four against Shahbaz as soon as he came to the crease, repeated this feat against Mayank Markandey in the ninth over. While Rahane was struggling to score runs quickly, the left-handed batsman completed the team’s century by hitting consecutive sixes in the 12th over against T Natarajan. He failed to read the slow ball of Pat Cummins and missed out on scoring a half-century by giving an easy catch to Bhuvneshwar standing in the point area. Unadkat gave second blow to Chennai in two overs by walking Rahane in the next over. Meanwhile, Chennai team could score only 24 runs after losing two wickets from 14th to 17th over.
Dhoni got a chance to play 2 balls
In the 18th over, Jadeja and Daryl Mitchell (13 runs in 11 balls) hit fours against Cummins, taking the team’s score to 152. Natarajan walked Mitchell in the last over but Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who came to the crease, could only score one unbeaten run in two balls. Jadeja took the team’s score to 165 by hitting a four on the last ball.
