A US-based rights organization has expressed solidarity with Uighur, Tibetan and Ladakhi human rights advocates opposing the Beijing Winter Olympics in China. The Global Commission for Human Rights and Religious Freedom (ICHRRF) said this in an online seminar just a day before the closing ceremony of the Olympics.
During this, prominent representatives of Tibetan, Uyghur and Ladakhi (Gilgit-Baltistan region) communities gave their comments on the contemporary challenges facing them. Most democracies have diplomatically boycotted the Beijing Winter Olympics, the group said, because the CCP has a poor record of human rights violations in its own home and territorial aggression against its neighbours. Speakers included Denver University law professor Ved Nanda, Tibetan exile and Harvard-educated lawyer Thinley Chukki, Tibetan Youth Congress general secretary Sonam Tsering and Prof. Nawang Leggshe also condemned the Chinese behavior.
