According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, an 18 kg IED was planted by hiding it on the side of the road. Had the terrorist plot been successful, then along with the security forces, common people would have lost their lives in large numbers. This IED was recovered during normal search and route sanitisation. He was deactivated in the forest away from the residential area. After this, traffic has resumed on the Bandipora-Sopore highway. According to the police, the IED was hidden by the terrorists in such a way that it was not visible from the front. This information was found during checking with the instruments.
To make the IED more lethal, it was paired with a LPG cylinder. The army convoy was to pass through this road today. It is believed that the terrorists planted IED with the intention of attacking this convoy. The search is on for those who planted the IEDs. Let us tell you that an explosive-laden car was attacked in Pulwama in 2019. In which more than 40 soldiers lost their lives. Since that incident, the process of investigation has been made stricter before the army or other security forces leave the convoy. The convoy is taken out only after sanitizing the entire route.
