But do you know that diabetes has a bad effect on your eyes as well as your kidneys? Due to which gradually your eyesight may disappear completely.
Diabetic patients are likely to gradually develop diabetic retinopathy after 4 to 5 years. Which is found in 80 percent out of 100 diabetes patients. Regarding this serious disease, Godda’s eye specialist Dr. Sumit Kumar Singh, who has received training (Trend in Retina Screening) from AIIMS New Delhi, said that if diabetic patients do not get this disease checked at the right time, then gradually their eyes will deteriorate. Even the light may disappear.
What is diabetic retinopathy?
Dr. Sumit said that diabetic retinopathy is one such disease. In which the retina of the eyes of a diabetic patient gets damaged. In diabetic retinopathy, the thin blood of the retina starts getting damaged. The patient’s eyesight gradually starts disappearing. This is a microvascular complication. Which increases gradually without any indicative symptoms. If it is not treated, the person may become completely blind.
How to avoid this disease
If at any time you find out that you have diabetes, then immediately go to a good eye specialist doctor for examination. The doctor will detect retinopathy by examining the retina of your eyes with a machine. If you get this disease, your treatment will be started immediately. Also, if your diabetes is controlled in the initial stages, the risk of getting retinopathy can be reduced. Along with this, diabetic patients should also take a walk every morning and evening and eat nutritious food beneficial for the eyes along with green vegetables.
