The MQM-P was announced by party convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui at a press conference with leaders of the United Opposition in Islamabad.
“We have gathered at a historic moment. More than congratulations, this is a test that the national leadership has to go through,” Siddiqui said.
He said, “Today is also a day of prayer. The wishes of the common people have been fulfilled. I hope this time we can strive for a democracy whose impact can reach the common people of Pakistan.”
Siddiqui said, “We have joined you (opposition) in this journey with these hopes. We are not seeking the benefit of any person or party. Pakistan Peoples Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also thanked the MQM-P and termed its decision to join hands with the opposition as “historic”.
