This was informed to the Parliament on Wednesday. Union Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh in a written reply to Lok Sabha said, “ISRO launched Earth Observation Satellite EOS on 14 February 2022 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota with INS-2TD and InspireSat-1 as co-passengers. -4 has been successfully launched on PSLV-C52. The satellites were injected into a polar Sun Synchronous Orbit at an altitude of 524.84 km.
He said, “At present the satellites are undergoing testing and calibration in various orbits and subsequently the available data from the satellites will be used during the designated mission life to achieve the mission objectives. The total time taken is 63 months from the date of approval. The financial and expenditure for realization of the satellite is around Rs 490 crores.”
EOS-4 is a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging satellite for Earth observation, operating in the C-band at 5.4 GHz frequency, for applications in the fields of agriculture, disaster management, water resources and forestry.
INS-2TD is the first of the second generation nano satellites, which aims to demonstrate indigenously developed nanosystems for in-orbit demonstration.
The Minister said InspireSat-1 is a Class 9U student satellite, jointly developed by the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram and the Space Physics Laboratory of the University of Colorado, Boulder, USA, to study ionosphere dynamics and the Sun. has been developed.
