Bhilwara. Many types of customs are seen in Rajasthan. Some customs are such that people have a deep faith in them. Even if it is very painful. One such custom is prevalent in Mandal town of Bhilwara district of Mewar region. This custom is to take out small children from a half-moon shaped dot-like eight inch hole made in the middle of a two and a half feet high black stone. It is believed that this makes children healthy. Rajasthan is in the grip of severe heat these days. The temperature is between 45 degrees and 50 degrees. From sand to road, stones are burning like a pan. Still people are following the alleged custom of taking out children from the hole in the stone in this weather.
According to experts, this stone is placed on the bank of the pond of Mandal town. It is known as Bindiya Bhata. Under this tradition, the child is made to pass through the hole in the stone seven times with his naked body. It is believed that if the child is malnourished, he will be cured if he is taken through this hole seven times. He will never be a victim of malnutrition in the future. Many people of this area follow this tradition with great devotion. But people are less concerned about how painful it is for the child to follow this tradition in the scorching heat.
Tradition prevails over pain
This trend continues even in this scorching heat. Such a scene was seen on Sunday in the scorching sun with mercury of 45 degrees. Here a couple was pulling out this stone with their one and a half year old child. The child screamed as the hot stone touched his body. But the belief prevailed over the pain. During this, someone also captured the scene in his camera. Then this photo also went viral on social media.
It is crowded here on Saturdays and Sundays
The old people of the area say that there is a belief of tying the clothes of malnourished children on the tree near this stone. Therefore, the people who come here first tie the clothes of the child on the tree. Then take the child out from the eight inch hole of the stone. Many people bring their children to this place. A large number of people reach here on Saturdays and Sundays. In Bhilwara, there is a practice of applying Dam by exorcising to cure a child suffering from respiratory disease. In this practice, the so-called Bhopa burns the body of the child with a hot iron rod.
There is nothing better for a baby than mother’s milk
According to Bhilwara’s pediatrician Dr Prashant Agal, there is nothing better than mother’s milk for children. With the growing age of children, it is necessary to change their diet and eating habits. Parents should take special care of this. Parents should feed their children well and keep them healthy. If the child is a victim of malnutrition, take him to the doctor. Do not fall into the theory of superstition. Keep a distance from quacks.
