Singapore: A woman of Indian origin in Singapore has been accused of attacking a 6-year-old child with a pen. The case dates back to 2022, where she has been accused of attacking a six-year-old child with a pen multiple times at a child care center. The child suffered injuries on his face and head in this attack. The accused woman (43) has been held responsible for negligence in taking care of the child under the ‘Children and Young Persons Act’. Now the woman may have to face severe punishment in this case.
According to a Channel News Asia report, the court issued a blanket gag order according to which the identity of the victim, the identity of the accused as well as the location of the incident are not allowed to be published. According to the chargesheet, the woman is an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Singapore, the report said. The accused woman was taking care of the child at the child care centre since November 16, 2022, during which time she allegedly attacked the child with a pen several times, causing injuries to his head and face.

The woman indicated that she would plead guilty. She was offered bail of 15,000 Singapore dollars and her case will be heard again in June. If found guilty, the woman could face up to eight years in prison and a fine of 8000 Singapore dollars. (Language)
